Hey bros and brochachas,
And before you say anything, I know. I'm working in reverse order. But I can, so eat it.
Where was I? Oh, right.
NORTH KOREA WAS BEHIND THE SONY LEAKS!! As if anyone suspected anything else from the country. But over a freakin movie? Really? I guess Kim Jong Un doesn't have a sense of humor.
Sorry, this link is a video, not an article. But I figured that you would appreciate giving your eyes a rest.
But there was another interesting thing that the video brought up. That the FBI and federal government have it all wrong, that the leak could have come from the inside! What do you think about that?
I think that it's a very espionage-esk story! What do you think about it? Comment Below, let me know!
So, real quick: spelling is a bit of a pet peeve of mine; it ought to be -esque, not -esk. Now, actual comment: I'd personally wondered if the idea of the hack coming from the inside was legitimate long before I heard this. Sometimes I just can't resist my inner conspiracy theorist, you know? Anyway, Sony has gotten a massive response from this. Seems like one heck of a publicity stunt. I know that even Norse thinks that, if it was an inside job, it was a previously laid off and disgruntled employee, but it makes a much better conspiracy theory if this is all a hoax, although I am nigh on certain it isn't. It seems WAY too expensive to fake that sort of thing.

Further point as to what I was saying about how I can't really see this as an inside job or a hoax: North Korea is a nuclear nation. Although they have shown themselves to be a fairly incompetent nuclear nation, they are still equipped with weapons of mass destruction, and the CIA/FBI/President would have to be VERY stupid to make accusations against a nuclear nation without perfectly solid proof.
DeleteAlthough this whole deal has given Sony a lot a publicity, I wouldn't say it is giving them a very good reputation. Another reason why it wasn't an inside job (unless of course the employee was laid off or something :)
ReplyDeleteI doubt Sony would do this for their own publicity, they lost a lot of money by not releasing the movie in the majority of theatres. The estimated box office profits would have been around 40 million, and they only made 11 million with their limited release.
