One, I'm a filmmaker and two, this is a movie studio that got screwed over by North Korea. This may be the one piece of political news that has actually had me interested since something like reading about 9/11.
Anyway, Obama signed and executive order on North Korea to slap some new sanctions on the country, calling the attack 'Not war but cybervandalism'. He signed the sanctions on his second to last day join his Hawaiian winter vacation which I found kind of funny. Even on vacation he's still signing things.
"The order is not targeted at the people of North Korea, but rather is aimed at the government of North Korea and its activities that threaten the United States and others," Obama wrote. Which makes sense. It appalls me how much the people of North Korea suffer. If you look at a map of the that region of the world at night South Korea is lit up like a Christmas Tree but right at the border, North Korea is just dark. Fun fact, kids.
Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said the sanctions were meant to "isolate key North Korean entities and disrupt the activities of close to a dozen critical North Korean operatives."
"We will continue to use this broad and powerful tool to expose the activities of North Korean government officials and entities,"
Sounds like the government has somewhat of a plan to expose the things that are going on in North Korea.
What are your thoughts on North Korean sanctions? Comment below, let me know!
