Turns out that ISIS isn't completely off the radar.
320 troops at Al Asad air base are under regular mortar and gunfire. What made me laugh in this article was that Col. Steven Warren said that the attacks were 'completely ineffective'.
I pictured him brushing some debris off of his shoulder with a smoldering cigar in his mouth when he said that. Any one else?
Anyhoo,
No troops have been killed or injured as most of the rounds hit near the bases walls and perimeters. But in lighter news, the 1st Infantry Division is training 4 battalions of Iraqi men in a 'asses and respond' manner.
Pretty cool, no? Looks like there are a few small victories in Iraq amidst the crazy. What do you think? Comment below, let me know!

North Korea Behind Sony Attack...Duh!
Hey bros and brochachas,
And before you say anything, I know. I'm working in reverse order. But I can, so eat it.
Where was I? Oh, right.
NORTH KOREA WAS BEHIND THE SONY LEAKS!! As if anyone suspected anything else from the country. But over a freakin movie? Really? I guess Kim Jong Un doesn't have a sense of humor.
Sorry, this link is a video, not an article. But I figured that you would appreciate giving your eyes a rest.
But there was another interesting thing that the video brought up. That the FBI and federal government have it all wrong, that the leak could have come from the inside! What do you think about that?
I think that it's a very espionage-esk story! What do you think about it? Comment Below, let me know!

North Korea Pushes Back Agains US Sanctions.
Hi! It's me again, but you already knew that, didn't you?
Any way, back to the North Korea and Sony debacle. Apparently North Korea didn't like the new rules that the US put on her.
"North Korea lashed out at the United States on Sunday, calling a new set of recently levied economic sanctions repugnant and hostile.

"North Korea lashed out at the United States on Sunday, calling a new set of recently levied economic sanctions repugnant and hostile.
"The policy persistently pursued by the U.S. to stifle (North Korea), groundlessly stirring up bad blood towards it would only harden its will and resolution," a statement attributed to North Korea's Foreign Ministry said."
Clearly we are stepping on some toes here. But do you think that North Korea is more like a spoiled child and will just pitch a temper tantrum until a parent or friend just smacks him to get him to stop? Because in the video that is linked to the article says that they would like help from the outside world in addition to nuclear weapons 'for good'. How does the latter even work?
Anyway, I think that Korea is justified in feeling this way, as would any country that is having sanctions imposed on them, but they do deserve them so my empathy is less than the justice side of me.

Obama Ends Year on an Uptick!
Again, another article I found interesting. I don't generally keep my head in the political game especially with a presidential rating system but I just found it interesting that Obama is going up in popularity. I kinda feel good for the guy, but is it due to the economy?
"Improving views of the economy have helped hike President Barack Obama's approval rating to a 20-month high, a new CNN/ORC poll showed Tuesday, as markets climbed to record levels at news of an economy in overdrive."
Do people's opinions of the president usually coincide with the swing of the economy? Which brings another question: Is Obama a big reason for the uptick in the market?
Regardless, his approval rating is still a freaking 48%, which is still an 'F' to say the least. But hey, he's climbing. The groups that they found the uptick in were women, Millennial's and independents, while in men, Republicans and Americans between 35 and 49 years old it started to go down a touch. Think this is just one of those weird things where there is no rhyme or reason to it? It just is?

New Sanctions on Pyongyang Due to Sony Hack
I particularly love this topic and article.
One, I'm a filmmaker and two, this is a movie studio that got screwed over by North Korea. This may be the one piece of political news that has actually had me interested since something like reading about 9/11.
Anyway, Obama signed and executive order on North Korea to slap some new sanctions on the country, calling the attack 'Not war but cybervandalism'. He signed the sanctions on his second to last day join his Hawaiian winter vacation which I found kind of funny. Even on vacation he's still signing things.
"The order is not targeted at the people of North Korea, but rather is aimed at the government of North Korea and its activities that threaten the United States and others," Obama wrote. Which makes sense. It appalls me how much the people of North Korea suffer. If you look at a map of the that region of the world at night South Korea is lit up like a Christmas Tree but right at the border, North Korea is just dark. Fun fact, kids.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said the sanctions were meant to "isolate key North Korean entities and disrupt the activities of close to a dozen critical North Korean operatives."
"We will continue to use this broad and powerful tool to expose the activities of North Korean government officials and entities,"
Sounds like the government has somewhat of a plan to expose the things that are going on in North Korea.
What are your thoughts on North Korean sanctions? Comment below, let me know!
Who's David Duke and Why Does He Want to 'Name Name's'?
Oh, so apparently this Duke guy is a white supremacist! And evidently this whole thing about Steve Scalise surfaced when a Louisiana political blogger uncovered some very ambiguous comments that he had spoken at a KKK rally in hopes for their support it sounds like.
Those political bloggers are the worst...
Duke said this about the supposed incident:
"I've got conflicting reports," Duke told CNN's Michael Smerconish. "One person said that he was a no-show, that he was scheduled to come — one person said that he did come. I just don't know what the truth is."
Anywho, it looks like David Duke is kind of a shady guy to me. Like...you don't want to get on his bad side with things, which is what apparently Steve Scalise has done. He just carried that vibe of...like RumpleStiltskin or something. In addition to all of these accusation on Scalise, it appears that Duke has had dealings with other HoR members as well but "respects their privacy" as it were. Still, creeps me out.
He then went on to end with a conspiracy theory about the media and how it's racist against European Americans. How did he strike you? Comment below, let me know! And do you think that Scalise is guilty?

A New Leg for the GOP?
Hey everyone!
So reading this article, I've thought it was very cool that the Republican Party was gonna try to shake things up a bit. I think they realized something was not going in the direction and manner that it should be, and I'm glad that they took up the mantle of trying to do something new.
And, not only that upside, but something new is always exciting and awesome in my mind. The possibilities of where this could open up relations from the Executive and Judicial branches since they've been in dead lock for a while now. A couple cool points from the article:
1) Republicans say construction of the pipeline is an easy way to create jobs and lessen U.S. dependence on oil from the Middle East. A Senate bill fell one vote shy of the 60 needed to overcome a Democratic filibuster in November. Republican leaders are confident they can pass it now but acknowledge it's unlikely they can get 67 votes to override a presidential veto.
I thought that this was a pretty cool idea. It creates jobs and helps get us off of the dependency of the middle east. Win win, right?
2) In 2014, House Republicans passed a series of narrowly focused bills designed to create new jobs. Many of these rolled back federal regulations on manufacturers, which the GOP argued prevented businesses from expanding. Some passed with bipartisan support but hit a wall in the Democratic-controlled Senate. Now Republicans are scheduling new votes on these same bills in both chambers and hope to garner enough support to send them to the President.
Cool, great, right? I'd like to know what types of jobs are being preposed though. I think that would be interesting. Clearly one would be in construction of a pipline. Any one else know, comment below let me know. All in all, I just thought it was a cool idea. Whether or not they actually will follow through on it or not is up in the air. Cool ideas though. Read more here.
Do you think this is a sign that the Republicans are trying to turn over a new leaf?
