What are we going to do about ISIS?

I read a CNN article recently that asked the question 'What will Obama do about ISIS?'

The article focuses a lot on Obamas comments on the matter from last year. A few of them really stuck out to me. I liked them. One of his comments was that:

"America is not the world's policeman, Terrible things happen across the globe, and it is beyond our means to right every wrong."

I quite like this. I'm not a extreme isolationist but in all seriousness, we don't need our hands in everything that goes on in the world. I think we have learned our lesson over the past decade with Iraq and Afghanistan and it makes me happy that Obama has realized this. The second thing that I loved is this quote:
"I will not put American boots on the ground in Syria, I will not pursue an open-ended action like Iraq or Afghanistan. I will not pursue a prolonged air campaign like Libya or Kosovo."

This reaffirms to me that he's really not looking for a fight. But then again...I take things politicians say worth a grain of salt. Essentially this article gives me hope. Regardless of what has happened from then up until this point (Which is a butt ton) I hope that he stands his ground on this.

The other part of me recognizes how bat@%&* crazy ISIS is. Crazy people can't be reasoned with, so the logical part of me knows that eventually this is gonna come to a head and military action will be required for national security. But what do you guys think Obama will do? What would you like to see happen?

  1. I too think that his quotes are reassuring and think that when this thing comes to a climax we are going to need help from other countries if we do have to put boots on the ground. His comments are very political as they have to be so they only go so far.
